Registered Provisional Psychologist
Brittney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. Brittney completed coursework in the areas of human development, cultural and social psychology, trauma therapy and interpersonal violence, clinical interventions, research methodologies, couples and family counselling, grief, and professional ethics. Brittney has also obtained additional training from Dr. David Burns in which she received her TEAM-CBT Level 1 certification. Brittney has also received addition trainings pertaining to trauma-informed care. In her spare time, Brittney likes to hike, camp, and read.
Areas of Interest and Knowledge
Brittney primarily works with adolescents and adults, and is knowledgeable in the areas of addiction, anxiety, depression, phobias, trauma, and chronic pain. Brittney has experience counselling individuals of various cultures and ethnicities, as well as experience working with the LGTBQ community. Brittney regularly attends conferences and seminars to ensure her education remains up to date.
Beliefs and Values
Brittney believes that each client is the expert of their lived experience and she embraces a collaborative approach to therapy. Using a strengths-based, nonjudgmental perspective, Brittney helps clients dissect then re-create a new understanding of their story, allowing for dynamic growth and change. Brittney practices from an integrative approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and narrative therapy.
